The Rare Fruits Council isn't "angry", and it certainly isn't "out of tune and tempo". On the contrary, the sheer delight radiating from this disc makes for some of the most enjoyable Bach I know. The ensemble work is top-notch, with a razor-sharp give-and-go between members which is a lesson in how it's done.4/5(4).

CPE Bach's music is perfectly poised at the transition between baroque and classical styles. His trio sonatas foreshadow the classical string quartet. The sonatas are interpreted with care and feeling by Les Amis de Philippe, featuring Manfredo Zimmermann playing wooden flute, and Manfredo Kraemer on baroque violin.5/5(3).

Scored for organ (or pedal clavichord), the Bach trio sonatas can be played on a variety of instruments, as Christa Rakich demonstrates in this imaginative program. Six different organs, six different organ builders, and an assortment of period chamber music instruments are used on this double-CD set! Here is an audio sample from CD1, track 4.
