Crabby Appleton was an earlys American rock band fronted by singer-songwriter Michael Fennelly that scored a US Top 40 hit with their first single, "Go Back". Now we dip way back to for the proto-power pop of Crabby Appleton’s “Go Back,” penned by frontman Michael Fennelly. BY TIM HINELY At this stage in the game we probably don’t have to tell you that the early ‘70s was a breeding ground for the genre we’ve come to know and love as power pop—Big Star, the Raspberries, and the Nazz.

Jul 26,  · The Crabby Appleton character is embossed on the cover of their second album, Rotten to the Core (and yes that one absolutely lives up to its title one of the most abrupt turnarounds from quality to dreck in the space of one album in rock history).
