The Gift Lyrics: From city streets you came with something true / From dirt and smoke you breathed in something new / And when you laid all before you, they took what you made / And threw it away.

Midge Ure Format: Audio Cassette. out of 5 stars 25 Coming at a time when Midge Ure essentially shed the new romantic sound of his early 80s Ultravox and solo recordings, the album Answers to Nothing focused more on non-electronic instrumentation and an exploration of world music, so it may come as a shock to fans of his earlier stuff /5(25).

Dec 27,  · His "bono-esque" self-importance aside (hence the ambiguous title of the album), Ure's brilliance as an artist cannot be underestimated, especially evident shining all the way through this, a debut solo album of his. Squeezed somewhere between the experimental and the 80s' cheesiness, "The Gift" is a downright masterpiece spot-on/5(42).
  8. Kazigore says:
It's debateable what Midge Ure is more recognisable for today - solo artist or Ultravox leader. While Ultravox were consistent chart entries in the early to mid's, Midge has had a bit of an up and down solo career. This album was the first of a few and was released around the time of Live Aid which he helped organise with (Sir) Bob Geldof/5(19).
